In honor of Valentine’s Day, Broadway.com decided to ask some of the most romantic people we know—Broadway stars—to share their thoughts on the season of love, and the shows that make them swoon.
ADAM CHANLER-BERAT (Henry in Next to Normal)
What is the most romantic Broadway show of all time and why?
I'm splitting this question up because otherwise, it's impossible. The most romantic Broadway musical (old school) is Crazy for You: did it in high school; first onstage kiss; ever since, my heart swells at the though of it. The most romantic Broadway musical (aside from Henry and Natalie in Next to Normal) is Rent: Roger & Mimi, Angel & Collins, Maureen & Joanne—romance in all forms. The most romantic play is cliche, but unsurpassable: Romeo and Juliet. A true romance is equal part tragedy.
What advice would you give for having a super-romantic Valentine’s Day?
Valentine's Day is a celebration of love. Family, friends, lovers—celebrate them all. Spread the love and it will return tenfold.
